About Weaver B
Our Story
I am located in Winter Park, FL. This is my first attempt at my first basket. All of the others took more than one try. I weave all of my baskets myself by hand using forms on some. This year, I changed my pattern to a tighter weave and rewove many of my original baskets. They began to sell at local markets so I decided to make a web site.
Our Products
I have a wide variety of baskets in stock. Blueberry, herb, harvest, colonial, egg/melon baskets. I have one unnamed that was not a kit but I prefer the D handle versus the notched handle of the blueberry basket. I currently use 2 stains: maple and a dark stain I have made by Sherwin Williams. Many of the dark stained baskets have leather trim.
Our Process
At Weaver B, I personally weave every basket from start to finish. My studio is under the stairs of my home. I measure and cut the reeds, stain them, soak them, weave them, form them and then finish them off. Some take longer than others and stain has to dry overnight. I use a lot of clothespins and clamps, My husband has built wooden frames for all of the D and notched handle baskets so that I can form them.
They are all made of wood and weave except for the leather trim. No metal fasteners are used.
